Safety

Safety and Quality

Glenorchy Air has long recognised the importance of developing Safety and Quality Systems. We employ on an independent Safety and Quality Assurance organization to oversee and develop our Safety and Quality Assurance programmes. We have a 100% safety record. No-one flying with us since we started our business 18 years ago has been hurt or injured.

Passenger Safety

Passengers with Life Jackets
Passengers with life jackets

Our brand new Aeroplanes have three point safety belts for all our passengers. As all aircraft have to carry life jackets on over water flights, we ensure all our passengers wear theirs. These are the modern self inflation type and are so comfortable passengers soon forget they are wearing them.

Awards

Glenorchy Air has been awarded the coveted Qualmark endorsement for its business.

Equipment

Glenorchy Air is the only Queenstown based aeroplane operator to have purchased brand new aeroplanes for scenic flight operations since the 1970's. We purchased a brand new GA 8 Airvan in 2003 and also operate a new 2004 year Cessna 172SP.

Last year we re-engined our older Cherokee Six aeroplane with the latest technology Textron Lycoming engine and quieter three bladed propeller. This year we re-engined our GA 8 Airvan with the latest technology engine as well. "Preventive Maintenance" is the mainstay of our maintenance philosophy and practice.

Training

All our pilots undergo regular training to ensure they maintain a high level of competence. All pilots and most other staff hold current First Aid Certificates.
